Bonding is the name for the dental procedure where tooth colored composite resins (plastics) are applied to teeth, then artistically sculpted, hardened and polished to create a new appearance. Bonding is utilized to enhance individual teeth or entire smiles, altering the shape and or appearance of teeth that are discolored, chipped, damaged or decayed. Bonding is a very artistic and difficult procedure to perform well and requires a lot of training and artistic talent. Bonding is different from veneering teeth in that the entire procedure is performed on the teeth and can take many hours and appointments based on how many teeth are to be treated and the artistic quality of the work being performed.
